Board of Directors

As The Pride Network broadens its impact and scales it operations, our Board of Directors is evolving and expanding. During this transformation, we are looking for Board members with aspirational vision and practical bandwidth to serve in specific roles.

We are seeking individuals for whom the mission of heart-centered leadership resonates deeply and whose robust relationships within their sectors (corporate, foundations, and higher education specifically) might be put to use in the interests of advancing TPN's work. Our ideal Board members are committed to and understand diverse community, approaching problem-solving with diplomacy and compassion, and leading with integrity, grace, and love.

The commitment:

Once monthly meetings via Zoom & Active participation in at least one committee

Three year terms

Personally meaningful annual philanthropy; a minimum write/raise of $1,000

Human Resources

  • Advise and work with the Executive Director (ED) on forming HR policies & procedures (e.g. compensation, contracts) for staff

  • Help develop ED & Board of Directors performance evaluations

  • Work with TPN leadership on facilitating the annual evaluations

  • Provide strategic guidance on staffing, and participate on interview panels to help evaluate candidates

  • Help refine the onboarding process for staff & Board members


Grant Prospecting

  • Identify corporate and foundation grants prospects (no gov't grants)

  • Develop and coordinate a grants calendar and strategy

  • Work closely with Development Team (our Board's volunteer grant writer) & development staff (Executive Director and Development Coordinator) to execute grants strategy

  • Cultivate relationships with potential grantmakers


Programming & Education

  • Advise in the development and expansion of new and continuing programming

  • Help maintain and cultivate relationships with existing and prospective program partners

  • Advise the development of a Programs Coordinator staff position (2024), and provide guidance thereafter


Legal

  • Help leadership think through issues and identify legal risks and solutions

  • Help connect TPN with outside professionals and experts to implement those solutions, securing those services for free or at a reduced cost

  • Supervise any outside professionals and advocate for the organization’s needs and positions

  • Review core organization documents every 2-3 years


Nonprofit Finance / CPA

  • Work closely with the Treasurer to offer guidance and a financial perspective to TPN's strategic vision, as well as to interpret financial statements and communicate them to the Board

  • Help connect TPN with outside professionals who can provide accounting services pro bono or at a greatly reduced cost

  • Bring your experience from work with other nonprofits


Corporate Connection

  • Do you work at a Fortune 500 company? Work with us to develop a meaningful relationship with their DEI team, Foundation, Executive Sponsor, etc. to help support our work

  • Help secure program funding/event sponsorship

  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Development Coordinator to execute TPN's corporate giving strategy


Digital Strategy & Social Media

  • Work closely with our staff to help execute our digital marketing strategy

  • Develop graphic design content and social media captions

  • Help manage our social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)

  • Execute corporate brand recognition (posts & mentions)

  • Grow the number of followers on each account

  • Provide guidance on the strategic development of our brand new website


Event Planning (NYC/NJ)

  • Co-lead our annual gala alongside staff and board members

  • Help manage event logistics

  • Coordinate with vendors

  • Work with our Development team to engage stakeholders

  • Help us envision, plan, and execute new fundraising and networking events


Professional Fundraising

  • Help expand our stakeholder base through outreach and engagement of personal networks

  • Work with our Development team to advise and support annual fundraising goals

  • Connect us to major donors and help open new doors
